Team 91 Lacrosse Adds Mental Performance Training to Its Player Development Model Through Partnership With AthletesTogether
PRESS RELEASE
Date: August 25, 2026
One of the country's most established club lacrosse organizations makes the mental side of the game a formal part of how it develops athletes
AthletesTogether today announced a partnership with Team 91 Lacrosse. Beginning this season Team 91 athletes will have access to the AthletesTogether app as part of the club's athlete development program.
Team 91 was founded in 2007 by Brian Spallina around a single idea: to deliver a level of teaching not found elsewhere in club lacrosse. Nearly two decades later, the organization has grown into one of the largest and most competitive club programs in the country, with a coaching staff that includes professional coaches of the year, All-Americans, and college and high school head coaches. The AthletesTogether partnership extends that teaching standard to a part of the game most clubs still leave untrained.
"Team 91 is one of the most elite lacrosse clubs in the country," said John Armistead, Founder and CEO of AthletesTogether. "Being able to bring their athletes real mental support is an incredible opportunity to further their development — and it shows what's possible when a club treats the mental side of the game as part of the training rather than an afterthought."
AthletesTogether gives athletes a daily, non-clinical practice for the mental side of performance. Athletes complete short daily check-ins and performance exercises that build confidence, composure under pressure, self-talk, and focus on what they can control. Every session contributes to a personal score that shows athletes how far they have come since they started — a model built so that athletes can track their mental game progress.
For youth and high school lacrosse players, the pressures now extend well past the field: year-round schedules, college recruiting timelines that start in middle school, and social media exposure that follows athletes home. Club programs are increasingly expected to help athletes carry that load, but few have a structured way to do it.
"This is such an underrated issue for kids and athletes," said Jill Pfeifer, Girls Director at Team 91 Lacrosse. "We're excited to give our players something that supports them off the field the way our coaching supports them on it — and hopefully it encourages more programs to pay attention to it."
The partnership includes athlete access to the AthletesTogether platform across Team 91 Girls, with in-season programming and check-in reminders delivered throughout the year.
